As a young man, George Murdock fell in love with the Maine woods. He spent many summers at
his grandmother's cottage on Gardner Lake and retired to the community of Cutler in 1992.
Enthusiasim for Washington County was demonstrated in his fundraising efforts for
the University of Maine at Machias Center for Lifelong Learning. Using this website gives
each person the opportunity to participate in lifelong learning. George's passion for knowledge and
growth was his legacy to his beloved State of Maine and to the people of Washington County.
